County Leases Grant Street Property

The Grant Street property formerly used by Coyle Free Library during renovation will be used as transitional space for Franklin County operations during the Court Facility Improvement Project.

Transitional Space during Construction May Provide Long-term Options

May 10, 2018 – Chambersburg, PA – The Grant Street property formerly used by Coyle Free Library during their renovation will be used as transitional space for Franklin County operations during the Court Facility Improvement Project. Project Manager John Hart addressed the Franklin County Board of Commissioners last Tuesday morning to request consideration of a lease. Today, Mr. Hart proposed that the county enter into a lease agreement with b.developed LLC. After review, the Commissioners moved to approve signing the agreement.

The lease is for approximately 16,000 SF of space, with 5491 SF of office space at $10/SF and 10,509 SF of storage space at $5/SF, and includes 80 parking stalls. The agreement offers a fixed lease rate for a 10 year lease term.

Leasing the space on the north corner of Grant and North Second Streets allows the county flexibility during construction and helps to fulfill needs for both transition space and parking. Options for long-term use of the property will be presented to the Board of Commissioners next week.

The Courthouse Facility Improvement Project is addressing long standing concerns with courthouse security, inadequate space for operations, and inefficiencies related to fragmented court offices. A project webpage has been established on the County’s website.
