Volunteer of the Year

The Franklin County Commissioners recognized Sam Thrush as the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year awarded by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce. Thrush, a community planner for Franklin County has been on the board of the Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) since 2013. Activities of Thrush as noted by the Chamber in granting the award include creating a new fundraiser for DCI, the Duck Derby, implementing a Main Street Piano Project, and serving on the Chambersburg Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee on behalf of DCI. In addition Thrush completed research on a storefront preservation zoning concept. He also served on the Downtown Chambersburg Visioning and Master Plan Steering Committee.
