Tax records show that Finley only paid taxes on slaves for one year, in 1786. Transcription of ad: Ran away on the 5th instant, from the subscriber, living in Southampton township, Franklin county, and state of Pennsylvania, a Negro MAN named Jevy, about 32 years of age, five feet nine or ten inches high, of a thin visage, slender make, thick lip'd and bow leg'd; had on and took with him an old wool hat, a copperas or lye coloured linen coat, a blue cloth double breasted jacket, buckskin breeches and white yarn stockings, good shoes and had a forged pass. Whoever takes up and secures said negro, so that his master may have him again, shall have the above reward and reasonable charges.
