Requirements Include:
Associates degree or equivalent in Communications, Emergency Management or other related field; computer and telecommunications skills required; or any combination of equivalent training/experience. Must complete APCO Communication Center Supervisor Course within 12 months. Must complete fire extinguisher training within 12 months of assignment. Must complete an Emergency Vehicle Operations course within 18 months of assignment. Two (2) to three (3) years working experience in field of communications, government planning or related field, with at least one year supervisory or management experience. Must be certified and maintain certification in CPR, Class "C". Must possess and maintain certification in the IAED 40 Hour Dispatcher Training program, a Pennsylvania approved Emergency Medical Dispatch program, Emergency Police Dispatch program, and CLEAN Terminal Operators program. Must maintain state training and certification standards for emergency dispatchers, call takers and supervisors per Act 17.
