CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2021) – The Franklin County Commissioners have proclaimed September to be National Recovery Month in Franklin County and are drawing attention to the impact mental health and substance use disorders have not just on local communities but throughout America.

This year marks the 32nd anniversary of National Recovery Month. The 2021 theme, “Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” emphasizes that individuals who are in recovery and those who are supporting them on that journey are not alone. National Recovery Month is also a time to celebrate the millions of Americans who have achieved success through recovery as well as all those who make that recovery possible.

By declaring September to be National Recovery Month in Franklin County, the commissioners are urging residents to increase their knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, to learn how to recognize them and to understand how Franklin County residents can seek help through treatment services available within their own communities. Those services, available through Franklin/Fulton Drug and Alcohol, can assist those affected by mental health and substance use disorders in living healthy lifestyles.
