CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the March 2023 Employee of the Month award to Theresa Martinez during the board’s March 29 public meeting. Martinez has been employed with Franklin County since February 2010 and currently serves as a central courts coordinator with court administration.

March’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received 15 nominations for the March award, seven of which were for Martinez.

“Central court runs smoothly every week because of Theresa’s hard work and dedication,” said one nomination form. “Theresa makes sure all the files are there on the morning of central court. She monitors the cases and calls the individual courts with any questions she may have. She helps everyone when they have a question about the status of a pending case, and if she doesn’t have the answer, she will call around until she does.”

Several colleagues pointed to Martinez’s organizational skills, her professionalism and her willingness “to help in any way possible.”

“Theresa created new forms to be used at central court that make judges’ jobs easy and save time and paper,” cited one nomination form.

“Theresa has made a measurable impact over the last year to improve central court in Franklin County,” said one coworker. “Her knowledge and skills have refined the operation and efficiency of our central court system in the way we process documents. Theresa is a dedicated employee, and through collaboration with other departments, she has drastically improved the functionality of central court.”

Another nomination form said, “As the central courts coordinator, Theresa is responsible for the smooth operation of the central court. She works with seven magisterial district court judges and their staffs to efficiently schedule all Franklin County criminal cases and preliminary hearings every week. The weekly caseload at times exceeds 100 cases. Theresa has proven herself to be reliable, competent and efficient in the performance of her duties. She has the ability to work amicably with numerous judges, attorneys, law enforcement officers and sheriff’s deputies to see that the goals of central court are accomplished each week as expeditiously as possible.”

Martinez’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. She is described as efficient, competent, reliable, dedicated, caring, organized, proactive and knowledgeable.

The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Martinez on her recognition and thanked her for her excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of customer service, excellence and respect to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
