CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the August 2023 Employee of the Month award to Quentin Clapper during the board’s Aug. 30 public meeting. Clapper has been employed with Franklin County since May 2022 and currently serves as the senior planner in the county’s planning department.

August’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received 23 nominations for the August award, 11 of which were for Clapper.

When nominating a coworker, employees are asked to cite an event or instance that elevated an individual to Employee of the Month status. Several nominations cited Clapper’s transition into a new role and his ability to  simultaneously handle and learn a number of responsibilities.

“Quentin recently took a new position within the department and has been diligently learning his new duties while also continuing to take care of the tasks of his former position and supervising an intern,” said one colleague. “A few weeks into his job as senior planner, Quentin was responsible for overseeing and training a new employee and a second new intern…and gleaning knowledge from another employee who was leaving the department. Quentin persisted and did an excellent job of juggling all the questions while doing his best to keep up with his own projects.”

Another nomination said, “Quentin has the ability to pick up and learn new concepts and new programs quickly. He is a self-starter. By the time you’ve thought to ask Quentin to do something, he’s already completed it! He is also humble and thorough in everything he does.”

Clapper’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by his peers. Coworkers describe him as patient, positive, a team player, a leader, thorough, professional, dedicated, hard working, reliable, persistent and motivated.

The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Clapper on his recognition and thanked him for his excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of customer service, excellence and respect to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
