Overview

As the county’s chief law enforcement officer, the district attorney is dedicated to obtaining justice and works to protect and serve the citizens of Franklin County, preserving their quality of life by fostering an environment of safety and security.

Mission

The mission of the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office is justice. As the chief law enforcement officer of the county, the District Attorney will “protect and serve” the citizens of Franklin County, preserving their quality of life by fostering an environment of safety and security. To that end, this office is dedicated to obtaining justice.

Each and every member of the District Attorney’s Office enthusiastically pledges their collective talents, energy and commitment to this mission.

In obtaining justice, the following goals are the foundation of this mission:

  • Aggressively and zealously defend the rights of crime victims and to accord them the highest level of dignity, respect and sensitivity. 
  • Use reasonable and lawful vigilance to successfully detect, investigate and prosecute criminal offenses within Franklin County.  
  • Effectively deter crime by seeking appropriate punishments for criminals.
  • Lawfully and aggressively pursue a coordinated and effective stance against illegal drug trafficking. 
  • Fulfill a law enforcement leadership role by: 
  1. Assisting and working cooperatively with police and all law enforcement agencies.
  2. Ensuring law enforcement compliance with Constitutional safeguards, state and federal laws, directives and regulations.
  3. Identifying law enforcement needs, striving to meet those needs and establishing new and relevant initiatives.
  4. Providing law enforcement with guidance and training. 
  5. Elevating public confidence in the criminal justice system by promoting public awareness regarding the role of law enforcement, crime prevention, public safety and victims’ rights through relevant community outreach. 
  6. To take a community leadership role by forming partnerships with schools, community groups, public officials and business leaders to spearhead coordinated efforts to eliminate conditions that precipitate crime.
