Franklin County CDBG Application Period Now Open

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners are pleased to announce the county is now accepting applications for the 2022 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The program is administered by the Franklin County Planning Department.

 

Applications are available by visiting the Franklin County Planning Department webpage, https://bit.ly/3w3Y5zr, or by contacting the Planning Department at 717-261-3855 or planning@franklincountypa.gov. All applications must be received by 4 p.m. July 29.

 

The Planning Department will discuss the CDBG Program, needs within Franklin County and previous CDBG allocations during a public hearing at 10 a.m. May 26 in the Franklin County Administration Building, 272 N. Second St., Chambersburg. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program and to give oral testimony on the county’s needs and the program as a whole. Written comments will also be accepted. Residents who are unable to attend the hearing in person can attend virtually by contacting the Planning Department.

 

CDBG funding is allocated through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), to benefit non-entitlement municipalities and community organizations within Franklin County. Franklin County is expected to receive approximately $350,000 CDBG funds for fiscal  year 2022, and at least 70% of those funds must be used for activities that benefit low and moderate income individuals.
