Franklin County Commissioners Modify Schedule To Include Evening Meetings

Commissioners

March 27, 2024

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners have adjusted their public board meeting schedule to now include a monthly evening meeting, beginning April 17.

Commissioners’ public board meetings are normally held on Wednesdays beginning at 10 a.m. at the Franklin County Administration Building, 272 N. Second St., Chambersburg. Beginning April 17, the board will host an evening meeting on the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Once per quarter, the evening meeting will be held at an off-site location in other areas of the county.

“We value transparency and public participation, but we know many residents may not have the opportunity to attend our daytime meetings because of other commitments, like work, school or child care obligations,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dean Horst. “By making this schedule change, we hope more residents will attend and participate in our public meetings. Also, by taking the meeting ‘on the road’ throughout the year, we will make attending these meetings more convenient by being closer to home for many of our residents.”

The schedule and location for evening meetings is as follows:

  • April 17: Franklin County Administration Building;
  • May 15: Franklin County Administration Building;
  • June 19: to-be-determined off-site location;
  • July 17: Franklin County Administration Building;
  • Aug. 21: to-be-determined off-site location;
  • Sept. 18: Franklin County Administration Building;
  • Oct. 16: to-be-determined off-site location;
  • Nov. 20: Franklin County Administration Building; and
  • Dec. 18: Franklin County Administration Building

Additional information on off-site meeting locations will be announced at a later date when details are finalized.
