John Thierwechter Hired as Assistant County Administrator

The Franklin County Commissioners and Administration are pleased to welcome John Thierwechter into a new role as Assistant County Administrator.
“John’s professional experience and leadership are an excellent match for the needs of this position. We are looking forward to working with him in this new role,” said Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller.
John has worked with the County since 2016 as the Director of Emergency Services. He is a 25 year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police, working in Franklin County as a Patrol Trooper, Patrol/Criminal Investigation Supervisor, and as Chambersburg Station Commander for 5 years. During his career with the Pennsylvania State Police, he was twice assigned as the acting Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Justice Network (J-Net).
Of the new position, John states, “I am honored to have been selected for this role. I look forward to working with the County Commissioners to further their goals along with the County Administrator. My years of experience working in Franklin County should help me to positively impact our employees and citizens.”
John graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
He begins his duties as Assistant County Administrator on February 20, 2020.
