On Wednesday, November 7th, Franklin County is holding a multi-county law enforcement training exercise at the former Commissioners Complex, also known as the Chambersburg Trust Building, located at 14 North Main Street in downtown Chambersburg. The full day event will begin at 9am and involve several scenarios simulating hostage situations.

“We are pleased to be able to host a training of this scale. This simulation will help to keep our special teams at peak performance and ready for emergencies,” said Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller.

Around 90 individuals will be participating in the event. Correctional Emergency Response Teams (CERT) from Franklin, Dauphin, Butler, Centre and Somerset counties will be present as well as local law enforcement from Chambersburg Borough Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police. Franklin County Adult Probation and Department of Emergency Services are also participating.

“In the case of a critical event where we’d need more teams, these are the counties we’d call,” said Franklin County Jail Warden Bill Bechtold. “Being able to train together is invaluable,” he added.

The event is sponsored by Combined Public Communications, GTL, PrimeCare Medical, L.R. Kimball, AFCME 589, and the Franklin County Jail Employee Club.

This is a closed training and public access is restricted.
