Poll Worker Information
Poll workers are responsible for administering election procedures in each polling place. Each polling place is normally made up of five positions: judge of election, majority inspector, minority inspector, and two clerks. Duties include:
- Open and close the polls
- Operate voting equipment
- Sign in voters
To be eligible to be a poll worker, you must be a registered voter, be able to read, write and speak English, and attend a training class if you are to be the judge of election. The county offers various training sessions for its poll workers the week before an election. In the event there are no vacancies in your individual voting district, most positions can be appointed to another precinct.
Poll workers work approximately 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on election day and are paid between $60-$160, depending on voter turnout and if they work a half or a full day.
If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, complete this form or contact the Franklin County Commissioners’ Office at 717-261-3812 or commissioners@franklincountypa.gov.
