What Is The Process Of Certifying A UPI Number?

The Franklin County Tax Assessment Office will review the documents to determine whether the information provided denotes complete and correct UPI Number(s). There are five main components which are reviewed to accept a UPI Number for certification:

1. The preexisting UPI Number and/or parent UPI number

2. Owners’ name

3. Property address

4. Recital (legal description)

5. Area or size of the realty involved

Once the determination is made, the UPI Number(s) will be certified. The UPI certification stamp will appear on the ending page, which becomes a permanent part of each document upon recording.
