COVID-19 Pop-up Testing Site and Update on Vaccine Distribution
December 15, 2020 – Franklin County, PA – In response to the rapid rise in positive cases across the state, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH) has contracted with AMI to perform pop-up testing in various counties, including Franklin County.
The PADOH, in conjunction with the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services, determined the Chambersburg Mall as a suitable site location for Franklin County.
"This is a great opportunity for Franklin County residents to receive a free COVID-19 test without having to go to a medical facility. This helps free up medical staff leaving them more time to care for patients who are ill or require other types of treatment," said Franklin County Department of Emergency Services Director Jacob M. Crider.
Franklin County COVID-19 Pop-up Testing
The pop-up COVID-19 testing site will be open from 9am - 6pm Friday, December 18th through Tuesday, December 22nd. No appointment is needed and the site will have drive-thru and walk-up options. Testing is available for individuals, with or without symptoms, aged 3 years old and up and is free of charge. Staff will request private insurance information, however, if the client's insurance doesn’t cover the lab fees, the claim will be submitted to the federal government for reimbursement.
Patients with positive test results will be called and those with negative test results will be emailed (if they don't have email, they will be called). Test results are expected within 2-3 days.

Franklin County Vaccine Distribution: What We Know
Shipments of a COVID-19 vaccine are arriving in states across the country this week. At this time the vaccine is going to hospitals, health care providers, physicians and pharmacists.
According to the PADOH, the vaccine will be distributed in phases. The first phase will be for frontline healthcare personnel; emergency medical services (EMS) first responders; and residents and staff of congregate care settings. The second phase is for high-priority recipients who were not yet given the vaccine as well as essential workers who are working in proximity to others and who cannot work remotely. The third phase will be for the general public.
At this time, there is no sign up for the vaccination. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care workers are expected to administer the vaccine.
