Internships and Job Shadowing

Need to do an internship for school or college? Franklin County has you covered! Come experience an internship and a first look into an occupation at the County as you prepare for your career.

Looking to intern with more than one department? Franklin County has "Ride Along" Internships to offer - The Criminal Justice Ride Along and The Human Services Ride Along Program. If you are interested in one of them, please check it off on the application.

 

Criminal Justice Ride Along Information:

This program exposes the student to the criminal justice field. The departments included are the Sheriff's Office, Adult Probation, Juvenile Probation, the Jail, and any other department of choice aligning the individual's interest. The student will spend 1-2 weeks with each department depending on the number of hours desired or needed for college credit. The schedule will be based upon the student’s availability.

 

Human Services Ride Along Information:

This program exposes the student to the human services field. The departments included are Human Services Administration, Children and Youth, MH/IDD/EI, Franklin/Fulton Drug and Alcohol, Veterans Affairs, Area Agency on Aging, and any other department of choice aligning the individual's interest. The student will spend 1-2 weeks with each department depending on the number of hours desired or needed for college credit. The schedule will be based upon the student’s availability.

 

Note:

  • Our internships are unpaid.
  • The student is responsible for paying for any clearances if needed for the internship.
  • All students must be currently enrolled at a high school, college or university.
  • Minimum of 40 hours, anything less will be considered a Job Shadowing Experience (see Job Shadow below).

Job Shadowing 

Interested in seeing a day in the life of a position at the County? Franklin County has you covered! Come experience job shadowing at the County as you prepare for your career. Please note that all interested candidates must fill out the form linked below. Note: The student is responsible for paying for any clearances if needed for the job shadowing experience. Maximum of 40 hours, anything more would be considered an Internship.
