A bid opening Tuesday morning resulted in 18 bids from area contractors for various work including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, elevator, and general construction. Three of the contractors are local to Franklin County.
“We’re pleased that the submitted bids are within our anticipated budget,” said Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller. “Contractors will be thoroughly vetted before bids are awarded, but we are cautiously optimistic that bids will stay well within our budget range,” he added.
The County is required to contract with the lowest responsible bidder. The total amount of lowest combined base bids is approximately $35M.
Construction of the Judicial Center is estimated to begin this September with renovations to the historic Old Courthouse and Courthouse Annex to follow. Once complete, the Courthouse Campus will offer increased safety and security to those visiting and working in court offices, adequate space to meet the demands of a growing county, and the convenience and efficiency of co-located offices and services.
