A bid opening resulted in 23 bids from local and regional contractors for general construction, HVAC/mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work for the future Franklin County Administration Building.
A bid opening last week resulted in 23 bids from local and regional contractors for general construction, HVAC/mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work for the future Franklin County Administration Building.
“The bid amounts came in within our projection,” said Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller. “We’re happy to see the amount of contractor interest in the project and are pleased to be working with local contractors,” he added.
The County is required to contract with the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Intent to Award bid notices were signed yesterday for Lobar, Inc. of Dillsburg, PA (General Construction - $7,064,000.00); Stouffer Mechanical of Chambersburg, PA (HVAC/Mechanical - $1,569,000.00); Frank B. Lesher Co., Inc. of Chambersburg, PA (Electrical - $998,602.00); and Mann Plumbing and Heating LLC of Fayetteville, PA (Plumbing - $384,610.00).
“The new Administration Building is one of many projects that are part of the overall Court Facility Improvement Project budget which has not changed since it was set in early 2018. We are still on target,” said Commissioner Bob Thomas. The total overall Court Facility Improvement Project budget is $67.8 million and the impact remains at 1.5 mills.
County Administrator and Chief Clerk, Carrie Gray thanked the Court Facility Improvement Project management team for their oversight in keeping the multi-faceted project on time and on budget. Commissioner Bob Ziobrowski stated, “It’s important to note that there will be no additional millage increase associated with this project.”
Construction of the Administration Building is estimated to begin late October/early November with completion by the end of November 2020. The new Administration Building will provide increased convenience and customer service for visitors and those doing county business, as well as more efficiency for county operations.
