CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the October 2023 Employee of the Month award to Mary K Seville during the board’s Oct. 25 public meeting. Seville has been employed with Franklin County since July 2020 and currently serves as the assistant director of the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services (DES). She was also named Employee of the Month in May 2021.
October’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received 19 nominations for the October award, four of which were for Seville.
“With the departure of the DES director in June, Mary K stepped up to take the helm until a new director started,” said one colleague. “She single-handedly managed both the county’s Emergency Management Agency and 911 side of DES and took any challenges that arose in stride. She has ensured that any disruptions to the critical systems were investigated immediately, even if it was after hours or over the weekend.”
The nomination continued, “Even with her busy schedule, Mary K is always available to assist us with any questions. She also keeps everyone in the loop on any upcoming projects or events that we are involved in, and she follows up to make sure we have the resources that are needed to be successful. Mary K is a team player who has kept the department running smoothly and efficiently. She is a leader who truly cares about her employees and is a great asset to the county.”
Seville’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. Colleagues describe her as dedicated, patient, caring, determined, diligent, compassionate, professional, supportive and a team player.
The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Seville on her recognition and thanked her for her excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
