Applications Now Available For Franklin County Veterans Affairs Scholarship

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners, along with the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs, are pleased to announce that applications for the 2024 We Support You Scholarship are now available.

The scholarship program provides financial support to area veterans’ dependents. Eligible applicants are high school seniors residing in Franklin County who have been accepted into an accredited higher learning institution and who are in need of financial assistance.

“The county has a long, proud tradition of supporting our veterans and military families. This scholarship program is just one small way that we can say ‘thank you’ for our veterans’ service to our nation,” said Franklin County Chairman Commissioner Dean Horst.

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and participate in both extracurricular and community service activities. Students must also complete the scholarship application and submit three letters of reference, including one from their high school guidance counselor, along with other documentation as noted by the application instructions.

All applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. March 22. Scholarship recipients and the amount of the award will be determined by a committee of local professionals and Franklin County representatives.

Scholarship instructions and applications are available on the “How Do I Apply For” page of the Franklin County website, www.franklincountypa.gov, and at the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs at 425 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, during normal business hours.

The Franklin County Veterans Affairs We Support You Scholarship Program is supported by donations to the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund. Donations to the scholarship fund and other outreach programs can be made by dropping off or mailing a check, made payable to Franklin County Veterans Affairs, Attn: Outreach Fund, to the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Office at 425 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
