Fort Loudon Senior Activity Center To Relocate

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – This week the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging is relocating one of its senior activity centers from Fort Loudon to a new space at 6444 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas.

The Fort Loudon Senior Activity Center will close at the end of business on March 7. Activities will resume as normal at the new St. Thomas location on March 12.

“The commissioners are grateful for the many years the Fort Loudon Community Center served as a gathering place for our county’s older residents,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dean Horst. “We are looking forward to offering seniors expanded services at our new location in St. Thomas.”

The new St. Thomas facility is larger than the senior center’s current space at the Fort Loudon Community Center. By moving into a larger space, the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging can expand its offerings, including the addition of new activities, a dedicated space for exercise equipment, a coffee bar and more. The center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officials are planning an open house at the new facility, tentatively scheduled for May 23.

Franklin County’s eight senior activity centers offer a variety of social and educational activities, crafts, clubs and health programs. Daily lunchtime meals are also available by reservation for a small donation.
