CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the June 2024 Employee of the Month award to Cody Eichelberger during the board’s July 10 public meeting. Eichelberger has been employed by Franklin County since January 2018 and serves as a probation officer with the county’s adult probation department.
June’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received 23 nominations for the June award, one of which was for Eichelberger.
“In April, Officer Nina Shatzer was concerned for one of her court-supervised individuals who struggles with alcoholism,” explained the nomination. “The family feared that she was drinking heavily and could be in a medical crisis … The family gave permission [for officers] to enter the house.”
The nomination continued, “Officer Eichelberger called for Pennsylvania State Police assistance… They carefully cleared each room before they got to the rear of the house where the bedroom was located. They knocked on the closed bedroom door and announced themselves. They saw a female in bed … and had State Police call for emergency medical services for a medical check and transportation to the hospital.”
The nomination went on to praise Eichelberger’s knowledge, experience and training and noted that had it not been for Eichelberger’s empathy and determination, the situation may have had a much different outcome. Additionally, the nominating individual pointed to Eichelberger’s involvement in creating a drug identification training for county staff and how he has stepped up to the plate to assist others in the adult probation department.
Eichelberger’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by his peers. He is described as determined, motivated and diligent.
The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Eichelberger on his recognition and thanked him for his excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
