June 2016 CJAB Meeting Summary
The Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) met on June 23, 2016 at 12 PM in the 3rd Floor Jury Assembly Room at the Franklin County Courthouse.
Commissioner Dave Keller called the meeting to order and facilitated introductions. Chief of Juvenile Probation, Kati McGrath introduced Johanna Balascio, Probation Support Manager from Fairfax County, VA who was visiting for the day.
Christy Unger of Healthy Communities Partnership and Chambersburg Cares presented “Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) 2015 Data,” which included PAYS outcomes. PAYS is a survey of school students in the 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th grades intended to gauge student behavior, attitudes and knowledge concerning alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and violence.
The Grants Department reported that SCCAP has been awarded funding to coordinate the Franklin County Reentry Coalition. The Reentry Summit, held in May, was successful with over 170 attendees. Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) funding has been awarded to provide Vivitrol and MAT in the jail. Treatment Court funding will be awarded. The Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) application will be submitted this week and is for an Intensive Reentry Case Management program designed to collaborate services for around 10 female inmates on the ‘no home plan’ list and will be modeled after Lancaster’s RMO collaborative services model.
Karri Hull, CJAB liaison for PCCD, reported that a CJAB Reentry Workshop with Myrinda Schwitzer Smith will be held on September 27, 2016. Next year’s CJAB conference will be April 4 - 5, 2017 at the Penn Stater.
