November is National Caregiver's Month

What Is A Caregiver?

One who cares for loved ones with chronic conditions, disabilities, disease, or the frailties of old age.

What Is National Caregiver Month?

National Family Caregivers Month – celebrated each November -- is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country.

The first rule of taking care of others is “Take care of yourself first.” Caregiving can be a rewarding experience, but it is also physically and emotionally demanding. The stress of dealing with caregiving responsibilities leads to a higher risk of health issues among the Nation’s 90 million family caregivers.

Family caregivers have the best interests of their loved ones at heart. A family caregiver must remember to pay attention to their own physical and mental wellness, and get proper rest and nutrition. Only by taking care of yourself can you be strong enough to take care of your loved one. You really do need to “take care to give care!”

Are You a Caregiver?
Are You a Grandparent (over age 55) raising grandchildren?

If so, we also encourage you to attend one of our Family Caregiver Support Groups this month!

This group is a chance for everyone to share what they are going through, get some advice, gather new information and take a break from caregiving!

While at the meeting, you are encouraged to learn more about the Family Caregiver Support Program. You may even qualify for financial reimbursement for some of the costs of caregiving (clothing, school supplies, extracurricular activities, etc.)!

We understand that raising grandchildren can be difficult physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. We are here to try to relieve some of the stress and burden from you, so that you can continue to provide care to your grandchildren!

November 8th - Chambersburg

November 16 - Mercersburg
