April 2017 CJAB Meeting Summary
The Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board met on April 27, 2017 at 12PM in the 3rd Floor Jury Assembly Room at the Franklin County Courthouse.
CJAB Vice Chair, Commissioner David Keller called to order the April meeting of the Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB). He welcomed the group and the Chambersburg Area School District Youth Court Team including Gail Schuyler, Maria Banks, and Austin Coyle.
A formal vote was taken which approved by-law revisions per new minimum operating standards set by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Changes include the addition of four new voting members: Single County Authority, MH/ID Administrator, and representatives from State Probation & Parole and the Housing Authority.
The Annual CJAB Conference was held in early April and eight from Franklin County attended.
Dr. Kim Eaton, Chief Kati McGrath and the Youth Court Team presented a mock Youth Court Trial.
The CJAB Office reported that Franklin County was awarded pass-through Endowment Act funds of $50,000 for the Children’s Advocacy Center medical services. BJA funding was applied for to use for continued Drug Court implementation in the amount of $400,000 for 3 years. Also applied for was a non-competitive Adult Probation Systems Improvement grant to cover the cost of six tablets for courtroom and field use.
Franklin County will be updating their Sequential Intercept Model through a morning workshop session to be held on May 12th.

The next meeting of the Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board will be held on June 22, 2017 at 12 PM in the 3rd Floor Jury Assembly Room at the Franklin County Courthouse and is open to the public.
