June 2017 CJAB Meeting Summary

President Judge and CJAB Chair, Carol Van Horn called the June meeting of the Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board to order. She welcomed Bonnie Zehler of the Franklin County Housing Authority as a new voting member.

Judge Van Horn and Vice-chair, Commissioner Dave Keller presented a citation to Mike Christopher upon his retirement, honoring 40 years of dedication and service in the role of Washington Township Manager.

Cori Seilhamer and Kay Martin presented on the Mental Health Co-responder Program.

The CJAB Office reported that much focus is being put on managing current grants. The office is also working with the Children’s Advocacy Center for funding renewal. The Adult Probation Systems Improvement grant was awarded which allows for the purchase of six tablets to be used in the courtroom and in the field. A project modification was requested for the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment grant (Vivitrol Program) to extend funding through December. A project modification for the Intensive Reentry Case Management program is being drafted. The Intermediate Punishment (IP) funding is in limbo and the state is recommending removing the funding from the budget.

The next meeting of the Franklin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board will be held on August 24, 2017 at 12 PM in the 3rd Floor Jury Assembly Room at the Franklin County Courthouse and is open to the public.
