The Franklin County Board of Commissioners honored Franklin County residents, Bryce Summers and Wyatt Craig, on their 2018 First Place 4-H National Championship Trap Shooting Team Award at a recent Board of Commissioners meeting.

“We are very proud of Franklin County’s talented youth and grateful for the Penn State Extension 4-H programs which help to encourage and support that talent,” said Commissioner and Chairman Dave Keller.

Bryce Summers, 18, from Fayetteville and Wyatt Craig, 17, from Shippensburg have been members of the 4H Shotgun Club in Franklin County for approximately the past 4 years.

Out of four shooters competing in the State 4-H competition, both boys qualified to advance to the 4H National Championship event held in Grand Island, Nebraska this past June.

They attended the National Championship accompanied by their coach, Jason Goetz, a 4-H Youth Educator from Penn State Extension Office in Chambersburg.

“We all should be proud of the way these impressive young men represented our county at the national level,” said Commissioner Bob Thomas.

4-H provides programs that help youth develop critical life skills, fostering citizenship, and promoting leadership. For more information, visit https://extension.psu.edu/programs/4-h.
