New County Election Board & Solicitor Appointed & Candidate Packets Now Available
Due to the three current County Commissioners running for re-election, President Judge Carol L. Van Horn has signed an Order of Court appointing members of the Franklin County Board of Elections for the year 2019.
Due to the three current County Commissioners running for re-election, President Judge Carol L. Van Horn has signed an Order of Court appointing the following individuals as members of the Franklin County Board of Elections for the year 2019: Jerry Warnement, Owen Myers and Garry Gontz. These appointees will assume responsibility for all election duties and processes for both the Primary and Municipal Election. Also, Andrew J. Benchoff will be serving as Solicitor for the Franklin County Board of Elections the remainder of this year in place of the current solicitor, Mary Beth Shank, who has announced she is running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
Candidate packets are now available to be picked up in the Commissioners’ Office between the hours of 8:00 am. – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Please note – the Commissioners’ Office has relocated and is now located at 340 North Second Street, Chambersburg in the old Jennings dealership across the street from Corpus Christi Church.
Offices up for election this year include Court of Common Pleas Judge, County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Controller, Coroner, District Attorney, Prothonotary, Register & Recorder, Sheriff, Magisterial District Judge #39-3-04, Township Supervisors, Auditors, Councilpersons, and School Directors.
The first day to circulate a nomination petition to have a name placed on the Municipal Primary ballot is February 19th and the last day to file a petition with the Commissioners’ Office for any of these local offices is March 12th at 4:30 p.m.
