Franklin County Announces Employee of the Month for May

The Franklin County Commissioners on behalf of the Special Thanks And Recognition (STAR) Committee proudly present the Employee of the Month award to Dr. Kim Eaton. Dr. Eaton has been employed with Franklin County since 2005 and currently serves as a Reentry and Clinical Quality Assurance Program Director for the Day Reporting Center.

The selection for the May 2019 Employee of the Month was determined by the STAR Committee. There were a total of fourteen nominations. The STAR nomination form asks what recent event or occurrence made you select Kimberly and the answers stated:

“April was proclaimed as Reentry Month. Dr. Eaton organized a month of events, that included community movie nights in Waynesboro and Chambersburg, a Reentry Month Kick-Off & Press Conference, Comfort Kitchen events which included a Franklin Together Presentation and Dinner, a Judicial Candidates Panel, a podcast with the Franklin County Coalition for Progress, a vigil for April 30th in Waynesboro to support community members and reentering citizens as well as their families who have suffered collateral consequences from their loved one's incarceration. Dr. Eaton was responsible for the planning of the Reentry Summit that was held on April 3 at Rhodes Grove. Dr. Eaton invited Keynote speaker Rob Reed, who is the Executive Deputy Attorney General of Community Outreach, along with a panel of returning citizens, a community advocate, and a mother whose son is recovering from a substance use disorder and reentered the community from jail.

In addition, Dr. Eaton presented at the Commissioners’ Office for the Reentry Proclamation. She has worked tirelessly to engage the community in the Reentry initiatives for this month and has worked to highlight the importance of understanding the struggles of returning citizens and gaining community support for these individuals when they are returning to the community from incarceration. The Reentry Summit had great turnout and support from the community as well as Franklin County government, including the Commissioners. Dr. Eaton is an active member of the Franklin Together Coalition and is an active member on many subcommittees including Great Barrier Relief and the Case Review Task Force. She also manages the IRCM program, which helps inmates gain housing and needed services upon release from jail, and helps them gain stability in the community. She does a great job representing the County and helping community members in jail as well as throughout the community.”

Dr. Eaton’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. The nomination form describes her as possessing honesty and integrity; her strong moral principles make her a great asset. She is also passionate and committed, and has played a major role in orchestrating County reentry initiatives for more than a decade. Delegation and empowerment are two additional characteristics Dr. Eaton possesses. She is able to connect returning citizens with different programs to help them gain stability and manage appropriately in the community.

We are grateful to Dr. Kimberly Eaton as she exudes a high standard of customer service, excellence, and respect to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
