Franklin County Welcomes New County Ombudsman, Volunteer Coordinator for Aging Services
Franklin County is pleased to welcome Payton Mummert as the new Ombudsman / Volunteer Coordinator for Aging Services, effective September 19th, 2019.
Franklin County is pleased to welcome Payton Mummert as the new Ombudsman / Volunteer Coordinator for Aging Services, effective September 19th, 2019. Payton comes to Franklin County from Dauphin County were she served as an Aging Care Manager II in Protective Services.
“Franklin County Human Services Administration is extremely pleased and excited to welcome Payton to her new role. We can already recognize her drive and compassion for the aged & disabled population, as she cares very much. We know that Payton will be an effective Advocate and will help in any way humanly possible,” said Human Services Administrator Stacie Horvath.
Payton is a Gettysburg native and graduated from Penn State Mont Alto in 2018. She had an opportunity to shadow an Occupational Therapist in a nursing home setting where she first realized her passion for the geriatric population. Her interest in working with the older population grew when her grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Payton acquired her first job in a secured memory neighborhood within a nursing home where she became knowledgeable about dementia-related issues.
In her new role, Payton will advocate for the aged and disabled individuals living within long and short term care facilities to provide a voice and perspective for their safety and well being.
“I hope to ensure the older adults in Franklin County experience the best quality of life and have access to the services they need,” said Payton.
