Shawn Haines Announced as Franklin County Area Agency on Aging Director
Franklin County is pleased to welcome Shawn Haines as the new Director of the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging effective August 6, 2020.
“I’m excited to start in this new role and I’m committed to building upon the foundation already established. While there are obvious challenges that currently exist, there are also many opportunities ahead,” said Shawn. “I’m looking forward to working with the team in Aging to further the mission and services for the Agency and the citizens it serves.”
Shawn comes to the County with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and management, spending the last 22 years in various roles of progressive leadership in the nonprofit sector including experience working with the aging population. He led numerous large scale programming efforts and organizational operations at the highest levels, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer for a state-wide nonprofit organization serving vulnerable and at-risk populations.
Shawn earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University, and currently holds a clinical social work license in two states. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from West Virginia University.
Starting his career as a case manager providing direct services to aging and adult disabled individuals, Shawn has a full understanding of and appreciation for the Agency’s goals of optimizing independence, promoting choice, and enhancing quality of life. That experience gives him perspective on the many critical direct services provided for aging individuals in Franklin County. He feels that this perspective, along with possessing the demonstrated skills to lead an organization through program planning, implementation, and evaluation, is something that will be critical in his role as Director for the Area Agency on Aging of Franklin County.
Outside of work, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons and daughter, as well as their dog and guinea pig.
