The Franklin County Commissioners proudly present the Employee of the Month award to Ms. Marianna Stratigos.
Ms. Stratigos has been employed with Franklin County since October of 2006. She is currently a Lead Accounts Payable Specialist in the Controller’s department. The selection for the October 2020 Employee of the Month was determined by the STAR Committee. There were a total of ten nominations.
The STAR nomination form asks what recent event or occurrence prompted you to select Marianna Stratigos and the answers stated:
“During my extended leave, Marianna constantly went above and beyond to make sure that our invoices were paid. The thing that made me nominate her, besides the fact that she is always pleasant to work with, is she made a point to reach out to the Jail’s vendors to get invoices paid. This is not necessarily her job. The invoices should come from the department it originated from. However, during my absence, the invoices got filed instead of paid. This could have caused not only added fees, but it could have possibly caused a true riot at the Jail.”
“There are certain privileges that are requirements by law for the inmates. Unfortunately, these were the invoices not being paid. Inmates within the facility have been locked down and are already frustrated due to COVID, and they could have become even more irate and unruly. Marianna took it upon herself to get these invoices from the vendors and get them paid so there would not be any issues. I honestly don’t think she realizes her efforts may have prevented a potentially lethal situation.”
“It is nice to know that people have your back, especially under the circumstances. Relationships built with trust and respect goes a long way. I am quite proud and happy to have the opportunity to work with someone as professional and deserving of this award.”
Ms. Stratigos’ outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. The nomination form describes her as hardworking, an outside of the box thinker, honest and trustworthy.
We are grateful to Ms. Marianna Stratigos as she exudes a high standard of customer service, excellence, and respect to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
