39th Judicial District Announces Independence Day Program

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – President Judge Shawn D. Meyers of the Common Pleas Court for the 39th Judicial District will conduct an observation of the Declaration of Independence – July 4 and Ratification of the Pennsylvania Constitution at 8:30 a.m. June 30 in the Historic Courtroom of the Franklin County Judicial Center, 14 N. Main St., Chambersburg. The scheduled speaker for the observation is incoming Pennsylvania Court Administrator Andrea Tuominen.

 

Tuominen currently serves as the deputy court administrator of Pennsylvania. After having served as special assistant to the court administrator and other positions in the Administration Office of Pennsylvania Courts (APOC) since 1992, she was appointed assistant court administrator in 2001 and deputy court administrator in 2021.

 

As the deputy court administrator, Tuominen  is actively involved in nearly every aspect of the AOPC's work related to the Unified Judicial System and fulfills the court administrator's responsibilities in his absence. She oversees the AOPC's judicial district security and judicial services offices as well as the administration of public records and language/disability access policies.

 

Tuominen served on the Supreme Court's Special Commission to Limit Campaign Expenditures and the Intergovernmental Task Force to Study the Magisterial District Courts. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations and the Pennsylvania Association of Court Management. Tuominen was the recipient of the 2019 Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Government Lawyer of the Year award.

 

Tuominen previously served as co-chair of the PBA's Commission on Women in the Profession as well as other executive council positions and is currently co-chair of the Mentoring Committee. She has also served in a liaison capacity to the PBA Task Force on Electronic Filing and Retrieval and PBA Joint Task Force on Continuity of Delivery of Legal Services. She currently serves as an observer to the Uniform Law Commission's Study Committee on Redaction of Personal Information from Public Records. 

 

Tuominen received her juris doctor from the Villanova University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from Skidmore College.
