Staff from Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs presented a check for $69,042.11, proceeds from the seventh annual Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament, to the Franklin County Commissioners during the commissioners’ public board meeting Sept. 20.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin County Commissioners, along with the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs, are pleased to announce the seventh annual Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament raised a record $69,042.11.

The 2023 outing, held Sept. 1 at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, featured a sold-out slate of 260 participants playing on both Founders and Iron Forge courses. Participants of each winning team received a voucher for a five-day, four-night cruise for two. Winners of the straightest drive competition also received a three-day, two-night trip for two to Las Vegas. The tournament’s success was due to strong support from the community, as 78 different organizations and businesses contributed event sponsorships at a variety of levels.

“Each year, this tournament gets bigger and better, and the community support we receive continues to blow us away,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller. “Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and we are grateful that we are able to say ‘thank you’ by providing much-needed services and resources.”

Proceeds from this year’s tournament more than doubled the results of the 2022 tournament, which raised a then-record of $34,475. Plans are underway for Franklin County Veterans Affairs’ eighth annual tournament in 2024.

All proceeds from the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament benefit the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund, which supports a variety of programs. Those programs are funded solely through community support and donations and include Operation Save-a-Vet Save-a-Pet, Operation Rucks to Reins and the annual We Salute You Scholarship, among others.
