CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (January 27, 2022) – The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the January 2022 Employee of the Month award to Christopher Foote. Foote has been employed with Franklin County since December 2016 and currently serves as a booking officer/correctional officer with the Franklin County Jail.

January’s Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received a total of 14 nominations for the January award, including four for Foote.

When nominating a coworker, employees are asked to share a specific event or circumstance that makes an individual deserving of Employee of the Month. Foote’s nominations cited his professionalism, his natural ability to handle emergencies, and his positive attitude.

“Over the last few years, Officer Foote has continuously improved and has taken on additional duties…to improve himself within the facility, and his value increases each and every day,” said one nomination form. “Officer Foote keeps a professional, positive attitude and always has a smile on his face. He’s quiet and calm, but demands attention when needed. He continuously works an additional 15-20 hours each week, an on-going scenario for months. Even though he works these additional hours, he stays positive and alert.”

Other nominations referenced how Foote handled four incidents, including two medical emergencies, during one shift when he was the only officer working a two-person post.

“If Officer Foote had not been paying as close attention as he was, or if he had not stepped in when he did, both inmates could have lost their lives,” noted one coworker.

Another nomination noted that, “Officer Foote did a great job maintaining the safety of the inmates involved. He displays unique situational awareness, a keen sense of natural response to an emergency situation, and thorough job knowledge.”

Foote’s outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by his peers. The nomination form describes him as dedicated, efficient, conscientious, someone who puts others before himself and someone who is willing to help without complaining.

The Franklin County Commissioners are grateful to Foote as he exudes a high standard of customer service, excellence and respect to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
